Marble is a type of limestone which has been subjected to intense heat or pressure. Pure marble is almost completely white, and technically speaking its the presence of impurities, such as iron oxides and other minerals which give the stone its beautiful colours and shading. Marble can be found in all shades, cream, green, pink, red, brown, gold and black. The distinctive veining and soft clouding lends a feeling of depth and translucence to this most luxurious of stone. It is a strong and durable stone popularly used for wall claddings, floors and skirting, it comes in a variety of finishes honed, polished, brushed and tumbled.
